What is an arborist and why does it make a difference?
An arborist is a trained professional who is knowledgeable and equipped to provide proper tree care, and specially trained to provide a variety of services to maintain trees. Arborists certified by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA; www.isa-arbor.com/home.aspx) are individuals who have achieved a level of knowledge in the art and science of tree care through at least three years of experience and have passed a comprehensive examination. Certification provides a measurable assessment of an individual’s knowledge and competence required to provide proper tree care (www.treesaregood.org/faq/faq02.aspx).
Robert (Bob) Everhart, ISA Certified Arborist (NY 1180A) has been working with trees for more than 25 years. Everhart Tree Care LLC, is a member of the TCIA (Tree Care Industry Association: www.treecareindustry.org). TCIA accredits tree care companies, develops safety and education programs, establishes standards of tree care practice, and provides management information for arboriculture firms around the world.
Bob was born and raised in Red Hook, NY and moved to Greenport in southern Columbia County, where he lives with his wife, son and daughter. He began his career as an arborist at age nineteen, and within one year in the field he attained the position of foreman.
Bob very likely knows more about trees than anyone in the area. And unlike many other tree services providers, Bob and his team do climb. One of Bob’s main areas of expertise is in dismantling large trees; however, even he will tell you, there is always more to learn. He loves to share his knowledge, which is why he offers free tree diagnoses and estimates. Bob will come by and answer any questions you may have about trees or shrubs.
